Watch Haye vs Fury, September 28th on Sky

The British fight of the year that everyone’s talking about!

This coming Saturday, 28th September, Sky Box Office will be beaming live coverage of David “The Hayemaker” Haye vs the up-and-coming, undefeated Tyson Fury from the Manchester Arena. It’s a fight that will launch the winner to the top of the pecking order and cement them as number one contender for a world title shot with a Klitschko brother. There is great divide amongst the boxing fraternity, with many leading commentators and current pro’s disagreeing on who will win this hugely anticipated bout. One thing they can agree on is it will come down to a few key factors.

Survival of the fittest or fastest?

Height, weight and reach differences are all on the table, with the majority of the stats heavily in favour of Fury, standing at a giddying 6′ 9″ tall. With a height advantage of nearly half a foot, a 7 inch reach advantage and an impressive 21-0 win record, Haye has his work cut out if he thinks this one will be a stroll in the park.

No doubt, the taller man will use the jab to his advantage, whilst Haye will have to use his greater experience and pace to outwit the clearly heavier and slower Fury. With Haye’s punch speed and more nimble feet (just as long as he doesn’t break another toe) and arguably better stamina, could we be in for a British boxing classic to rival the days of Benn vs Eubank or Lewis vs Bruno? We certainly hope so!

Who’s the smart money on?

This fight has an incredible amount at stake for both fighters. Money, reputations and careers!

Fury truly feels he is the real contender in the current age of heavyweight boxing. Haye has a point to prove that he is still at the top of the pecking order in world boxing. So will we see a changing of the guard with Haye taking another humbling defeat and Fury stepping into the limelight or has this fight come too early for the big man?

Haye has everything to lose and a defeat will undoubtedly mean the end of his career. So this fight is totally dependent on Haye’s performance and which game he brings to the ring. If we see a repeat of his Klitschko debacle, Fury will just pick him off and wear him down into the latter rounds. If Haye is quick, sharp and decisive, he may get the KO a lot of people are predicting.

With just over a week to go, we can’t wait!

Whoever wins will see their stock rise significantly and both Klitschko brothers will find facing the winner of this bout unavoidable. One of these guys is going to get a world title shot. Who will it be? The best place to find out is live on Sky. Customers can see this fight and book their pay-per-view ticket from Friday 20th September so contact the UKTV2C team if you want to see the fight live next week on Sky Box Office.

The transfer window is shut so back to business

The Premier League silly season has ended so let’s get on with the football!

It comes as a mighty relief to most once the summer transfer window shuts. Almost from the last kick of a football from the previous season does the madness start. The rumour mills start to turn and the back pages are full of stories that after a period of time; simply get tiring.

I think we can all collectively breathe a sigh of relief that this window has closed with all the furore around Gareth Bale’s world record transfer fee to Real Madrid. In an age of so-called austerity, the figures being quoted does make anyone with an ounce of sanity question if the world really has finally gone mad!

It’s September so let’s actually enjoy the football

Here at UKTV2C, we’re glad to see the back of the transfer activity and hello to the start of the season when we only talk about what’s important… stuff that happens on the field! September is the month when we can all see who’s gone and who’s come into various teams and see what kind of shape the league season will take.

So far there’s no out and out favourite and in this era of post-Ferguson transition, it could be a really open season. Liverpool have got off to a great start but one wonders if they can sustain it for long. The Manchester giants have both failed to get all cylinders firing and whilst the two north London rivals in Spurs and Arsenal have already had their first head-to-head; it is still too early to tell who will be the frontrunners come the winter time.

The road to Brazil 2014

Tomorrow night sees the second instalment of international qualifiers for next years World Cup in Brazil this past week. Scotland visit Macedonia, whilst Wales host Serbia. Sadly both of these home nations won’t be heading off to south America next year as the results have been poor. England however, who are still very much in the mix, go to Ukraine for what could be the deciding game of the group.

With a few injuries and suspensions to contend with, Roy Hodgson knows he needs a solid England performance to get any kind of result against the highly rated Ukrainians. Wherever you are, you can catch the match live on ITV. If you’re abroad, you can sign up to use our VPN service and watch it live online via ITVPlayer. It’s really quick and simple to do!

The final slam of the year!

In just a couple of hours time, the world’s two best tennis players will go face-to-face to try to win this seasons last piece of grand slam silverware in Flushing Meadow, New York. World number 1 Novak Djokovic will head onto the Arthur Ashe Stadium to face the very in-form Rafael Nadal in what could be a an absolute belter of a match!

Sadly, Britain’s defending US Open champion Andy Murray fell at the quarter finals stage to a very solid performance from Stan Wawrinka, leaving the path to glory for Rafa and Nolé very much wide open. No doubt Andy will be back to make amends soon.

As for the final, it’s going to be too close to call but one things for sure… there’ll be a real battle of wills out there and you can catch the final live on Sky Go on Sky Sports 1 HD. If you want to catch Sky TV whilst on-the-go and abroad, speak to us about one of our great value Sky Go packages.
